Connecting Museums …

Connecting Museums with Refugee and Asylum-Seeker Organisations is an event presented by the Horniman Museum and Platforma (run by Counterpoints Arts).

The event is especially relevant to museum and gallery professionals who would like to connect with refugee and asylum-seeker organisations or would like to share their experience of targeted projects, events and ongoing partnerships.

In this afternoon symposium we will look at the Horniman’s engagement projects with refugee and asylum-seekers, drawing on current initiatives such as Crossing Borders, an event organised every year in collaboration with Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers. We invite everybody attending the symposium to join Crossing Borders, which will take place on Saturday 7th of February 2015 at the Horniman Museum and Gardens.

In the symposium we will focus on the practical implications of building and maintaining relationships with refugee organisations, by sharing challenges and opportunities encountered on both sides. The symposium also intends to generate key questions that will be further explored at the Platforma Festival in November in Leicester.

The symposium is free but places are limited. To book, please email
