As part of the performingbordersLIVE20 programme we are collaborating with performingborders and East Street Arts in supporting artist Jade Montserrat in her digital residency at East Street Arts.
During her residency Jade will look at notions and lived experiences of body, land, and ownership while exploring modes of online and offline communications with migrant communities in times of health, social and political crises.
Jade is the recipient of the Stuart Hall Foundation Scholarship which supports her PhD (via MPhil) at IBAR, UCLan, and the development of her work from her black diasporic perspective in the North of England. Jade Montserrat works through performance, drawing, painting, film, installation, sculpture, print and text.
Curated by Alessandra Cianetti and Xavier de Sousa, performingbordersLIVE started in 2019 and draws from the curatorial research platform performingborders. conversations on live art | borders | crossings that since 2016 has been gathering original interviews, writings and experimental responses from live artists, academics, activists and art professionals on physical and conceptual borders within an increasingly shared feeling of uncertainty.
For 2020 performingbordersLIVE expands its discussions and actions with more online and live opportunities and gatherings in London, Manchester, Leeds, Brighton, and Copenhagen to keep widening the conversation around borders and create a broader inclusive discussion that will also be freely accessible online.
